You are here because you or your teen is being asked to take this class. People take this class for different reasons. Some take it to reduce their legal consequences. Some people are asked by their school to take it. Others are asked by their parents to take this class. Whatever reason, you have come to the right web page to get you started. So, let’s get you registered and enrolled in a class.
You will need to pay close attention to the directions as you go to make sure you have completed both the registration process (step 1) and the enrollment process (step 2). Normally, the entire process takes about 15 minutes. If you need help, you can call our office at 303.776.8184 during normal business hours.
The first (1st) step is to register for the program. You will be filling out information about your age, date of birth, name, address, etc. this section can be completed by either the attending teen or a parent/guardian. In the next section, you will be presented with a brief questionnaire that we require ALL attending teens to complete. This helps us determine which class is appropriate. This questionnaire MUST be completed by the attending teen. Responses are kept confidential. After the brief questionnaire, you will be emailed a registration confirmation and a link to complete enrollment. Please read this email carefully as it will contain specific instructions, on how to complete Step 2 and complete enrollment. You are not enrolled in the program and do not have a secured place in a class until BOTH steps are complete.
Remember, parent/guardian participation in this class is required. You will be attending class with your parent/guardian.
We look forward to meeting you and working with you in class. Congratulations on taking this very important first step! When you are ready to begin:
Exciting Opportunity to Make A Difference and have a voice
Through September 2018, Alternatives for Youth is partnering with The Youth Initiative of Adams County (ACYI) and TEGA. We are seeking teens (13-19*) willing to participate in a TEGA interview. TEGAs are Technology Enabled Girl Ambassadors who conduct interviews in their communities using an app on their mobile phones. Through the Youth Initiative of Adams County (ACYI), TEGAs are currently conducting interviews, and AFY teens are being asked to participate. This interview will focus on the experiences and perspectives of young people as they navigate the pathway to adulthood and adults who work with youth.
*Participants under 18 will need parental consent
Everyone who participates receives a visa gift card as a thank you!
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
You will be interviewed ‘conversation’ style by one of our Technology Enabled Girl Ambassadors (TEGAs). Our TEGAs use an app on their mobile phone to help capture your input. You will have the opportunity to be filmed and recorded so that we can capture this information directly from you. Interviews/Conversations are about 40 minutes long. At the end of your interview, you will have the option to delete your responses if you decide you don’t wish for us to use them. This option is built in to give you full control over what you share with us.
WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE?
ACYI is an organization working with educators and other community leaders to help young people living in Adams County be successful. By participating in a TEGA Interview, you will be helping inform our work, which ultimately improves the support services and systems available to youth. As a young person who may be affected by these systems, your perspective is important to us and those who make decisions that impact you. We want to take time to hear about what matters most to you, what your thoughts are, and what needs to happen to support young people in Adams County.
Please contact Alternatives for Youth or TEGA to set up your interview!! In some cases, it may be possible to be interviewed directly following your iWISE class.
More information about TEGA can be found at http://acyi.org/youth-voice/tega/
If you have any questions or concerns about the interview please email our TEGA Manager Jody Nowicki at TEGA@ACYI.org
